I’m back for revenge!!!
Now that summer is over it’s time to get working! “Hot Air Music Presents…” will now be taking place on Tuesdays at Bar 42 as myself and Mark Knowles have something that we’re gonna be working on for Wednesdays. The first gig back is coming soon on 18th October featuring Funkzilla, Etcetera and Christelle.
Opening artist Christelle has an EP you should check out from April, thanks to the support of fans, friends, family and through crowdfunding. You can purchase the EP from iTunes here.
Funkzilla have also been busy writing with some new songs being added to the library, you can here their stuff on their Soundcloud page.
I just had to get my baby niece as she started crying. Now i have here sitting listening to Funkzilla’s Pre Jam which is awesome. Seriously check these guys out.
I have a few recording projects lined up. First being with Phantom of Eden. I have a few original songs for Phantom which not only we will play at the next gig but also hope to record as an EP or album. Also i hope to record my solo stuff soon as well!
In other new i have plans to start doing YouTube videos. I have been planning to re try my music review series Sound Scope of which three original episodes were recorded and were very shit. Thus i am re inventing it and hopefully it will be of interest to anyone. i may also plan some other videos to offer a better range of content.
i have just finished and released a new EP as part of the drone ambient series “Nebulae Music”. This is my 3rd release as part of the series with 2015 seeing “Nebulae Music Vol.1” and this year “Nebulae Music Vol.2: Background Radiation” both released through the ambient electronic net label Zenapolae.
I now introduce to you “mind EP” including two outtakes from vol.2 and a new track “I Am Eye” which i literally recorded and produced last night.

Last night was a better atmosphere i feel than last Tuesday, even though about the same amount of people came. I Feel that again the two main problems were promotion and date selection and they are something i need to improve on quite a lot if i want to begin making money from gigs.
Another problem i had was not listening to some of the bands maybe to put together a suitable lineup with similar music styles which work together. However despite this the bands were all really good.
Even though there were some minor issues it was a decent enough gig for a Tuesday at Bar 42, raising a nice £33 for Cancer Research totaling to £68 in total between the two events. Charity gigs are something i would definitely consider hosting again!

Tuesday may not be the best night for a gig at Bar 42. Tonight was quite dead for the most part though we did make a nice £35 on the door in support of cancer research. I feel that the main problem with this one was the promotional aspect of the gig.
One major item i forgot to do at the beginning was contact Cancer Research and notify them to the fact that i was hosting two fundraising gigs for their charity. This is something that should have been done straight from the start when i decided on the charity to raise money for as they may have seen this and thought “hey, this guy is hosting a couple of gigs to raise money for our charity, may be in our interest to give some sort of coverage to boost the event”. Another floor was the fact that it was on Tuesday night which after talking to Mark Knowles, owner of Bar 42, i discovered that actually they don’t usually host gigs on a Tuesday and that is something i really should have looked into was the best dates where he usually gets the most customers.
Another thing to address was my set… actually let’s not talk about that
Last nights gig was awesome! All the bands were really great and also very friendly, definitely people who i would work with again and hopefully will soon. The only real problems we encountered were band members from Operation Kino and Technicolour Limabean being stuck in traffic and so sound checks had to be delayed slightly. This unfortunately cannot be helped and is no one’s fault. Despite that hiccup we got round it quickly and easily especially Mike Baker, Bar 42’s sound tech, who has probably had similar situations many times before.
The turnout was quite good for a wednesday evening as well, i think it was even better than the gig on 16th was. Hopefully i will be hearing back soon from Technicolour Limabean and Operation Kino about playing a gig on 18th may at Bar 42 in support of the absolutely brilliant Dreamwaves!

With the passing of this first gig i feel it went well. We had a decent enough crowd and all the bands sets were really good. There were a few problems though.
One problem i had encountered was i forgot to discuss with the bands about amp heads however we were able to find two combo guitar amps in the back which were used as heads in the end so that problem was solved.
Another problem i feel i had was i forgot to write the address or venue name on the poster and so people who wouldn’t recognize the Bar 42 logo would not know where the gig was. Despite this we still had a good enough crowd and sound checks got done in the time given.
Overall i feel for the first event i have organised it went quite well however for the next gig i need to market more and also make sure the poster has Bar 42’s address.

Events Management Team
Chairman/Chair Women – This person is the head of the team. They manage the other members and organise meetings to discuss how each member’s work is going.
Treasurer – The role for the treasurer is to allocate funds to each other member of the team and also manage all other finances for the event. They too must be in contact with every other member of the team.
Secretary – The secretaries’ role is to document the movements and activities for everything going on within the team. This helps organise tasks and also makes it easier to recap after the event.
Marketing & Promotion – This section of the team has the task of researching different marketing techniques such as what genres of music are popular. These techniques will help the event gain popularity. The Promotion side will deal with handing out fliers/posters, sorting out TV and Radio advertisements etc…
Promotions Manager – This person is in charge of the promotions and will control the promotions team. Smaller event’s teams will most likely have only one or two people in charge of promotions, in which case there is generally no exact promotions manager or the person in charge of promoting might be supervised by the chairman.
Arts Team – The arts team will be in charge of designing the posters, website/page (i.e. Facebook, Event Blog).
Bookings – The bookings team are in charge of booking entertainment, stalls and various other things or the event. They might also book sound engineers if need be.
Sound Engineer(s) –
a sound engineer is in charge of engineering the sound during the event including doing sound check and setting up equipment. This is not an essential role within the team because most venues have in house engineers and you can also hire teams of engineers to work when your event is held in somewhere such as a park.
Public Relations - This person will be in charge of liaising with the local communities around the area of which the event is to be held. They are responsible for making sure that the local communities are ok with the event and also get any feed back afterwards to see if there were any problems and what they could improve if they were to hold another event. This person will also meet with the local council to get permission to hold an event and also sort out things such as security and public services.
